Dr. Subhayu Sen talk about Rocket Science

Monday November 11th, 2013

At Neev we believe in offering students the best available opportunities to interact with experts from various walks of life, so that the students not only can connect with their units better, but can also identify their passion in different fields early in life and build up on their dreams to the future.

Rocket science always fascinates kids. On Monday, 11th November, 2013 we had Dr. Subhayu Sen visiting the Academy to share his time and experiences with our students of Grade 3-7 through an interactive session.

After completing his undergraduate from IIT Kharagpur, Subhayu completed his Ph.D. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the University of Alabama, USA. He started his career at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center as a research scientist, developing experiments for the Space Shuttle and International Space Station.  Subsequently he supported the development of the next generation Solid Rocket Boosters in support of NASA’s heavy lift vehicle. He is currently serving as a consultant for Boeing and NASA, responsible for Materials and Processes for the Space Launch System Core Stage.

The session was organized to help Grade 3 students connect to their next unit related to space. For Grade 4 and Foundation Batch it was reinforcement of their earlier learning. At least ten curious hands were up in the air to clarify a lot of questions and queries that were harboring in the young minds about space and beyond.  Please find below the link to a show at Planetarium to take the interest of the students forward from this talk. It could be a good round up on many questions they raised during the session.
